We recognize and respect your need for privacy and security as you visit our site. When you visit our site to view any pages you do so without telling us who you are and without revealing any personal information. We do not passively collect personally identifying information about visitors to our site. In other words, unless you intentionally supply us with information, we do not receive any personally identifying information such as phone numbers, email addresses, credit card numbers, etc. Like most sites, we do collect basic information that you send to every other site you visit. The main reason for this is so we can analyze the generic information for the strict purpose of tracking activity on our site. This allows us to better understand how many people use our site and which pages and features are most popular. Under no circumstances do we lend, sell, rent or otherwise distribute your information. Typical information we store includes:

• Date and time of site access
• The page and page components you requested
• IP address that the connection was initiated by (typically, it is the address of the firewall of your Internet Service Provider)
• Server name and IP address (again, usually the ISP’s server)
• How long it took for our server to send the data
• Browser type
• Cookie information (we do not currently place cookies on any system)
• The site that referred you to our site (like Yahoo or Google)

On any page that we gather personally identifying information is a checkbox that you must check before the information can be sent to us. Next to it is the statement, “I have read and understand the helpingupmission.org privacy statement.” If you do not agree with this statement, please do not hit the “Submit” button.

If you choose to make a donation to The Helping Up Mission, you will be taken to the site of our partner, time2donate.com. You can find their privacy policy at http://www.time2donate.com/privacypolicy.asp.

When you submit personally identifying information via one of our feedback or application forms, that information is also encrypted, or scrambled, by your browser before it is transmitted back to our web site. This effectively prevents anyone from intercepting and reading any personal information about you. Note that this encryption does not take place if you send us email, but only when you use your web browser with one of our site's forms. You will know you are on a secure page when the beginning of the URL is https://. On most browsers, a small padlock icon also appears in the status bar.
